This is the word from Cathy Smith, MD of SAP Africa, who adds that this makes complexity more prevalent than ever.

“All the changes are happening at the same time – and this is what is making the intelligence era so fundamentally different,” she says.

SAP’s Sophia takes to the stage

 

SAP showcased its humanoid robot, Sophia, in an interview with Carte Blanche’s Devi Govendor.

The lifelike robot was created by Hansen Robotics in Hong Kong to demonstrate the abilities of artificial intelligence (AI) and to learn from human interactions.

Dressed in an outfit designed by David Tlale, the robot responded to questions, explaining what it does and even venturing into philosophical discussions.

Are you being disrupted?

Those companies more than 20 years old are the ones that are going to be disrupted.

“When they talk about disruption, they are talking about us,” says Stephen Green, chief technology officer of Dimension Data Middle East & Africa.

The digital tornado we see now is set to intensify, he says. “It’s difficult to predict where a tornado will touch down.”
