SITA’s cloud key to government modernisation

SITA has launched its private cloud, which will be the platform for modernising government ICT and more effectively delivering services.

Digitalisation is key to modernising government and catering to the changing needs of citizens.

SITA is driving the modernisation programme as the central element of its own turnaround, says Dr Setumo Mohapi, CEO of SITA.

“If we had a credibility index made up of perception of SITA by suppliers, parliament, staff members and customers – you would have got a very low number,” says Mohapi.

“There was a fundamental problem with the reason for SITA’s existence.”

Cloud is about services, empowering citizens

The newly-launched private government cloud platform will enable government to use data more effectively to provide better citizen services.

But the big game ahead is data, and we need to ensure that the new platform doesn’t just enable the country’s leadership but mobilises society in realizing this goal.

This is the word from Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams, minister of the merged department of communications (now including telecommunications and postal services), in her first appearance since her appointment.
