SA leads in digital innovation

Fujitsu is the fifth-largest IT vendor in the world and is gaining traction in the local market.

“In South Africa you have a very vibrant IT market which is an early adopter of technology,” says Juan Porcar, vice-president and head of EERA at Fujitsu.

This is reflected in the figures, he adds: the local office has shown considerable growth.

Bringing smart classrooms to rural SA

Self-contained solar-powered classrooms could be the solution to a dire shortage of resources and facilities at South African schools.

Fujitsu is helping local and rural communities in South Africa to secure a better future for their children by working with Select Partner Sizwe Africa IT Group to provide self-sufficient classrooms equipped with Fujitsu technology.

Each unit, built into a shipping container, is solar powered and features 27 seats, each with a Fujitsu Futro thin client and display, with educational content delivered to learners via a Fujitsu Primergy RX2530 server.

The road to flash storage

Data is the reason why IT exists and needs to take pride of place at the centre of the IT universe.

“It is the new capital, the new currency for business,” says Michael Marticke, evangelist: data centre at Fujitsu

“So storage can’t be seen as a big capex event in the IT budge, but the most important element of all,” he adds.

Storage technology has been basically unchanged for the last 61 years, he adds. “But the hard disk drive (HDD) is now dead.”

Fujitsu commits to channel ecosystem

Fujitsu has committed to its partners and guaranteed that, as far as possible, it won’t go direct to end user customers.
